GIVE TO THE PROJECT

Every year, City Church has the privilege of choosing a worthy organization to support through its Christmas Offering project. For our 2024 Christmas Offering, we will partner with Jean’s Closet, a ministry of our local outreach partner, Community Emergency Service (CES).

About CES

Mission: Rooted in God’s loving grace, CES seeks to transform lives by providing nutritional support, sharing resources, and building community. CES is a place where people arrive hungry and leave hopeful.

Client Demographics: CES serves a diverse population in the Phillips area and surrounding neighborhoods, often called one of the “Gateways to America.” Those served include Hispanic, East/West African, Asian, Russian, African American, and Native American neighbors. Notably, 90% of those served live at or below the national poverty level.

The Need

Many families face challenges, including:

• Financial instability
• Food insecurity
• Homelessness and lack of affordable housing
• Immigration-related transitions
• Reentry from prison or treatment programs

Without basic household items—kitchenware, bedding, and hygiene supplies—it is nearly impossible to create a stable and dignified home environment.

Current Gap:
In the 2023-24 fiscal year, CES assisted 1,064 households, providing winter gear, school supplies, and household items. However, limited resources restricted Jean’s Closet to serving just 71 households.

Our Goal:

With a goal of $13,000, we can:

• Support 20 households per month (up to 240 families in 2024).
• Stock Jean’s Closet with essential items by leveraging vendor partnerships (e.g., Walmart, Target, Amazon).
