Christmas Offering 2025

GIVE TO THE PROJECT

Each year during Advent and Christmas, we as City Church have the opportunity to give generously to a specific need as an expression of gratitude to God for his generosity to us and our active participation in his mission in the world. We generally alternate between local and global projects every year. The last two years were both for local initiatives, and given our ministry objectives being local this year, it seemed important to propose a global initiative this year. The cascading crises in Sudan kept coming to mind.

 World Relief

World Relief has spent the last eighty years “convening the global church to respond to the world’s greatest humanitarian crises.”[1] They were started by and continue to be affiliated with the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). World Relief partners with churches throughout the globe, as well as local leaders, to empower those whom they serve. They are on the ground, tackling many of the world’s most dire crises.

 The Need

Sudan is experiencing a multifaceted deluge of crises. On August 31, a massive landslide buried an entire village, killing potentially hundreds of people. This acute tragedy was on top of war, displacement, disease, and famine. The civil war there has displaced 10.5 million people since 2023, and an outbreak of cholera has infected 99,000 and killed more than 2,400. World Relief is delivering clean water, sanitation, and lifesaving supplies to these direct needs. Since October 24, there have been reports of mass killings and ethnic violence.

 The Goal

For mothers and young children uprooted by conflict in Sudan, the threat of malnutrition and preventable illness is devastatingly high. Pregnant women often go without prenatal care and children under five face hunger, disease and even death – often from causes that are entirely preventable. World Relief is responding with lifesaving care, including nutritional supplements, safe delivery support, vaccinations and post-natal care for mothers and babies. These interventions not only save lives in the moment they also create the foundation for stronger, healthier families who are better prepared to face the future. In fragile settings, even small investments can mean the difference between life and death.

  • $58 provides a child and their mother with life-saving health and nutrition support, equipping them to build healthier futures.
  • A gift of $15,000 would impact 258 mother/baby

A $15,000 gift is consistent with previous years’ goals and can make a difference for these 258 families for the rest of their lives.
