What to Expect

A Warm Welcome

We are a neighborhood church, so you might see someone you know from school or the park or the neighborhood association. Wear what you are most comfortable in - whether business casual or your favorite team's jersey. Members of our Welcome Team will greet you at every entrance and are ready to help you make your first visit to what we hope becomes your new church home.

Meaningful Worship

We believe that the Bible is God's word to us and we use it to bring all of life into focus. Bible reading and teaching is central to our worship service and our pastors will sometimes preach straight through a book of the Bible and sometimes collect verses relevant to a common topic for a series. And in each service we use a variety of art and music styles to reinforce all that is good, beautiful and true.

Personal Connection

It's easy to become a part of something bigger than yourself at City Church. As a Christian community, we welcome you to share with us the joys and difficulties of life that we all experience. Plan to stay for refreshment after worship and get to know others; check Get Involved for a list of upcoming events. Joining a Growth Group or serving others is also a great way to develop friendships, deepen your faith and live out values of justice and peace in our world.

Family Friendly

Families are encouraged to worship together, so you'll see children and teens on Sunday mornings as well as our older generations. Early childhood classes for those birth - Kindergarten are available on the lower level. Video overflow is available in the Family Room for little ones who need to move during the 55 minute long service. We believe that parents are the primary and life-long spiritual mentors for their children and we want to equip them well to teach their children, as well as provide fun and safe opportunities for children and teens to connect with other trusted and wise adults.

COVID-19 Policy

Throughout the pandemic, City Church has followed the guidelines for worship communities from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, the State of Minnesota/Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC. We believe this policy allows us to continue our "Love God, Love Others" mission statement safely, based firmly in Jesus' commandment to "love your neighbor" in Matthew 22. If there are any changes to the current health status of the Church or surrounding community, this policy may be subject to immediate change.
